What documents do you need?

SELLER DOCUMENTS

• Original registration certificate (libretto)
• Certificate of ownership (if in paper format; before 2016) or original complementary sheet (for oldtimers ecc.)
• Valid identity card or driving license of the owner
• In the case of a company: Document of the legal representative, certificate of incorporation (‘visura camerale’) and copy of the invoice

BUYER DOCUMENTS

• Photocopy of valid identity card or driving license of the owner (or legal representative in the case of a company)
• Health insurance card (tessera sanitaria)
• For non-EU citizens, a valid residence permit is also required
• In the case of a company: certificate of incorporation (‘visura camerale’)

FIFTY / MOPEDS
If you want to sell or buy a 50cc moped you need:

• Original vehicle registration document (libretto)
• Identity documents (valid) of the buyer and seller

50cc mopeds have a subjective license plate, which is the property of the owner of the vehicle. At the time of sale, a new license plate is registered and produced for the buyer.
The old plate can be reused by the owner when buying a new moped. The suspended license plate will be assigned directly to the new vehicle by the system.
In case you have lost your libretto, you must make a loss report first.

The world of imports is very diverse and can often be complicated. Below you will find broadly what you need to import a vehicle. However, we recommend that you write us an e-mail for more clarification and information.

• COC (certificate of conformity) or alternatively the technical data stamped by the foreign motorization
• Sales invoice (if buying from a foreign company) or sales contract
• Release by the revenue agency => this step is very important and must be done privately at the revenue agency in the municipality of competence. If the buyer is a private person, before being able to go to the relevant body (revenue agency), they must come to our office with the documents listed above so as to allow us to book the release which you will then have to carry out personally

How to proceed:

First of all, check that the car to be canceled has a valid MOT/‘Revisione‘ (if you simply have to scrape it, it is not necessary)

Requested documents:

• Front and rear plate of the vehicle
• Certificate of ownership of the vehicle (‚Certificato di proprietà‘; only if still physical – the digital CDP is not needed)

For companies:
If the vehicle belongs to a company, you will also be required to have the certificate of incorporation and the document of the legal representative who will sign the power of attorney to carry out the practice.

The car is subjected to monitoring and checks in order to certify the suitability of the vehicle to be able to circulate safely. This procedure must be carried out after the fourth year - starting from the first registration - and thereafter every two years.

Technical Tests (Collaudo)

Car inspections (revisione) and technical testing (collaudo) are quite similar procedures but for different reasons. The first must be performed periodically, respecting certain deadlines. The second must be implemented to ensure that any functional or constructive changes to the vehicle are approved, and to ascertain its suitability for circulation.

As a rule, when the owner of a vehicle passes away, all the heirs must sign a private agreement (prepared in our offices) in which they declare to accept the inheritance of the vehicle. At the same time they declare that they want to sell it either to one of the heirs or a third person.

Documents required:

• Registration certificate (libretto)
• Certificate of ownership (Certificato di proprietà cartaceo; only before 2016)
• Identity cards of all heirs
• Final buyer identity document (only if you sell the vehicle to a third party who is not an heir)
• The date and place of the owner's death
